A Shared Solution for Worker Access Security

Now more than ever, facility owners, contractors, labor and private organizations face tougher security challenges to safeguard their worksites at sensitive facilities and critical infrastructures. Knowing the identity of the contractors who enter each site is a priority. Many transient contractors work at multiple sites and facilities, each with its own security standards. That’s why worksite security is understood to be a shared responsibility and calls for a shared solution.

The Challenge

This security challenge was about identity verification in real-time, knowing who is on site and managing security information among organizations at different locations. A system was needed that could authenticate workers’ identity and credentials, verify they had a threat-free history, and that they met credential requirements for access. Additionally, to control what worker had access where, information had to be securely shared among disconnected sites and organizations in real-time.

The Solution

In response to this challenge, Ambassador Medical Services Inc (AMSI), IndustrySuite LLC, and TDK Systems Group, Inc. developed The Secure Worker Access Consortium, LLC (S.W.A.C.). A regional security initiative, S.W.A.C. helps to mitigate security vulnerabilities and risk across industry boundaries and large geographical regions.

Based on the founding partners’ collective expertise, S.W.A.C. delivers turnkey services and technologies to verify, in real time, that workers are known and have a demonstrated threat-free history. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey which manages and maintains the bridges, tunnels, bus terminals, airports, PATH, and seaports that are essential to the bi-state region’s trade and transportation capabilities, is among the companies who have joined S.W.A.C.

IndustrySuite's patent-pending Real-time Verification™ (RTV) technology provides the platform that drives S.W.A.C. This technology provides credential management, data sharing, and real-time identity verification. All data is immediately encrypted and fully protected from unauthorized viewing at any point in the information cycle. Access to data is permission based and driven by security requirements.

Along with IndustrySuite's RTV platform, Ambassador Medical Services provides highly-trained customer-service agents to collect personal information and answer customer inquiries. TDK Systems Group provides smart card production, access-control system engineering, and integration services.

The Benefit

RTV solves the key problem of interoperability among disconnected business partners. By providing real-time identity and credential verification of their organized work forces, RTV enables facility owners and their labor partners to cooperatively strengthen regional security. The result is a rapidly growing, trusted contractor community ready to safely service the region's critical infrastructures.
